I first became really interested in dog behaviour when I couldn’t resolve the problems I was having with my German Shepherd Dog. He was a real handful and displayed pretty much every type of undesirable behaviour such as pulling on the lead, not coming back when called, chewing the furniture, and aggression towards people and dogs. I’d tried taking him to various dog training classes, using different methods and different gadgets but none seemed to fix the problem and, more importantly none of the methods made me or my dog happy.
I trained as a Jan Fennell International Dog Listener and learned why dogs behaved as they did. It was then that I realised that my dog wasn’t a bad dog, we just weren’t communicating with each other in a language we both understood. I discovered that I could quickly and easily identify the cause of any undesirable behaviour and, with the simplest of changes to my everyday routine I could correct the problem with a natural and consistent approach. I now have 3 very happy and relaxed German Shepherd Dogs who all enjoy a kind and calm way of life.
